4 Signs It's Time to Replace Your Mattress

Sleeping is such an integral part of your daily routine that it's easy to forget about what's doing all the heavy lifting: your mattress. You log around 3,000 hours in bed each year, so it's important to take care of your mattress and recognize the signs when it's time for an update. While it's tempting to delay the expense of a new mattress, a variety of promotional financing options give you no excuse not to do the right thing for your back.

1. It's been 7 years or more

Do you remember when you bought your current mattress? Experts suggest you replace your mattress at least every 7 to 8 years—or more frequently if you're 40 or older, as your body is more susceptible to aches caused by an unsuitable mattress.1

2. Your mattress is lumpy

Is your bed sagging or lumpy, or have loose coils? Your time-worn mattress could be injuring your back and causing you to lose sleep. You can try rotating or flipping it, but you may just be due for a replacement.

3. You don't feel rested, or you sleep better elsewhere

Do you feel more tired than usual lately, even though you're getting your recommended 8 hours of sleep per night? Are you noticing aches and pains that weren't there before? Do you wake up feeling unusually spry in hotels? These could be signs that something's wrong with your mattress at home.

4. You have trouble getting comfortable

Difficulty finding a good sleeping position or waking up several times a night to shift may be signals that it's time to replace your worn-out mattress. Don't delay, because you could be doing more damage to your back than you realize.

Why cause yourself to lose any more sleep? If you've noticed any of these telltale signs of a mattress that's simply past its prime, check out offers and find mattress sellers that offer financing now.
