ALERT: Communication for customers impacted by the natural disasters.

Our thoughts are with those affected by the natural disasters. We are here to help customers who've been impacted and contact us by evaluating:

  • waiving of certain fees
  • increases in credit limits on their cards to help with additional, necessary purchases

In times like these, people come together to help those in need.  At Synchrony, it’s our job not only to help our customers every day – but also when disasters like these strike.

Eco friendly updates at home

Eco friendly updates at home

It’s hard to read the news these days without seeing a scary headline on the climate crisis. Often we’re left feeling overwhelmed and confused about how we can make a difference in our own lives. But the good news is, we can. Start at home with a few small changes and work your way up to the big stuff when time and budget allows. You’ll be saving the world in no time!

Start Small

  • Use a pressure cooker. Instant Pot purchase justified! Pressure cookers are incredibly efficient and have been shown to reduce cooking times by up to 70%, saving on energy expenditure in the process. While we’re in the kitchen, try implementing Meatless Mondays to further reduce your environmental impact.

  • Save water (and time) on showers. Shortening your shower by even one minute can conserve up to 150 gallons of water — very doable. If you’re having trouble summoning the will to get out, this shower curtain might be just what you need.

  • Unplug your electronics when not in use. This is a surefire way to save energy (and money!), as standby power accounts for five to 10 percent of residential energy use. If all that wandering through the house unplugging things has you feeling like your dad, try plugging your electronics into power strips with on/off switchesto maximize your own efficiency.

Go Big

  • Conduct an energy audit, and fix the leaks.A drafty house decreases energy efficiency by up to 30%, something you definitely want to fix if eco-friendliness (or warmth) is your goal. You can opt for a professional energy audit ordo it yourself before applying relatively easy fixes around the house to make it airtight.

  • Add a green roof to your home. There are myriad benefits of green roofs but many Americans don’t consider it an option. If it’s not already housing solar panels (also an excellent boon for the environment), why not add some green to your roof?

  • Replace your old wood deck with composite materials. There’s probably no need to dig up a perfectly good deck or porch, but when the time comes to replace it (or build a new one), look for low-maintenance, environmentally friendly composite decking. After all, you’ve just done your part to save the earth, and you’ll need a good, sturdy place to bask in the sun! Just remember to wear your (environmentally friendly) sunscreen.
